Action: “Sumy – Kharkiv”
Project Goal
The main goal of the action “Sumy – Kharkiv” was to extend a helping hand to Kharkiv residents who faced trials and difficulties during the war. By collecting warm clothing, the project aimed to provide much-needed relief during the cold months, ensuring that people in Kharkiv can stay warm and comfortable. In addition, collecting toys gave an opportunity to bring joy and happiness to children.
In addition to material donations, the project also sought to promote a sense of emotional support and unity. By encouraging people to leave their wishes to Kharkiv and its residents, the campaign aimed to strengthen the bond between Sumy and Kharkiv, promoting compassion and empathy among community members.
Project Description
The action “Sumy – Kharkiv” was a collaborative effort between the NGO “Miloserdya Sumyshchyna” and the cinema “Druzhba,” held as part of the “Generous Tuesday” campaign. The primary objective was to collect warm clothes and toys, which were then sent to the city of Kharkiv. Additionally, the project aimed to gather heartfelt wishes for Kharkiv and its residents, fostering a sense of connection and solidarity between the two cities.
The action commenced on November 29 and continued until December 15, during which the generous Sumy community donated warm clothing and toys. Donations were accepted at the box office of the “Druzhba” cinema, located at 20 Shevchenko Street. The joint effort of “Mercy of Sumy Region” and “Druzhba” cinema aimed to bring comfort, joy, and emotional support to the residents of Kharkiv during challenging times.
The action “Sumy – Kharkiv” yielded touching results and demonstrated the power of collective kindness. Throughout the entire campaign, the people of Sumy responded wholeheartedly, contributing a total of 48 bags filled with warm clothes and toys.
Following the collection stage, the accumulated items were promptly delivered to the humanitarian center “Akvarena” in the city of Kharkiv. The center acted as a distribution point, ensuring that the donated clothes and toys reached those in need. Recipients included not only Kharkiv residents but also resettlers from the region and other cities, all of whom received these essential items free of charge. The project’s success showcased the impact of unity and compassion in making a positive difference in the lives of others.
